Mawson’s total property holdings in the historic Skellefte gold district are 17 permits covering 76,980 Ha. Mawson is the largest exploration title holder in the historic Skellefte gold district and the fourth largest explorer by area in Sweden.
Vinliden
The Vinliden prospect is contained within the Vinliden nr 1 and 2 exploration permit areas (7,340 Ha).
Outcropping gold mineralization at Vinliden is hosted by quartz veins spatially related to porphyry dykes over an area of 1500m x 500m within greywackes. Alteration zones of distal albite and proximal sericite surround the quartz veins. Higher grade gold is associated with arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite. Twelve prospects have been identified to date.
The project has been drill tested by Boliden and North Atlantic Natural Resources AB. Boulder float has assayed up to 10 g/t Au, and one NAN drillhole returned 5m @ 0.7 g/t Au.
Trenching and follow-up drill testing of outcropping gold mineralized areas is planned.
Långtjärn and Dobblonbäcken
The Långtjärn and Dobblonbäcken projects are contained within the Långtjärn nr 1 claim.
Långtjärn is a mesothermal shear-hosted prospect with native gold and arsenopyrite in quartz veins. Shear zones are hosted by a deformed volcano-sedimentary sequence within a district of poor outcrop. The prospect was located in the mid 70’s by boulder hunters. Boulders from the immediate area have returned up to 28 g/t Au with anomalous Cu and Ag. Mineralization, to date, has been tested over 300m x 75m by 28 diamond drill holes.
An historical resource of 0.56 Mt @ 0.9 g/t Au (16,000 oz) was calculated on two sections using a resource block with dimensions of 100m x 75m x 75m. No demonstration of continuity has been provided to date and the resource is non NI43-101 compliant.
Mineralization at Dobblonbäcken lies 3km NNW of Långtjärn. Seven diamond drill holes in the mid 80’s tested a 250m x 80m wide mineralised zone. DD84005 intersected 37m @ 0.52 g/t Au and boulders up to 4 g/t have been discovered at surface.
Follow up large diameter drilling of outcropping mineralization and historic resources is planned.
BROKOJAN PROJECT (4,540 Ha)
The Berglunda nr 1 and Brokojan nr 1 claims surround Lappland Goldminers recent discovery at Stortjärnhobben.
The Brokojan licence lies 1km south along magnetic strike of intersections by Lappland Goldminers which include 11m @ 6.5 g/t Au from 109m, 7m @ 9.8 g/t Au from 110m and 4m @ 7.3 g/t from 25m. At least 8km of prospective magnetic strike lies untested under thin glacial cover. The Berglunda lies 3.5km south along an untested magnetic strike from North American Gold’s Barsele project (9Mt @1.8 g/t Au, 660,000 oz Au).
A program of shallow basement traverses across prospective magnetic horizons is planned.
GRANBERGET PROJECT (21,865 Ha)
The Granberget nr 1prospect covers 50km of prospective magnetic trend along the northern half of the “gold line” in the north-west of the Skellefte field.
The licence completely surrounds and is located within 1km of the Ersmarksberget prospect of Scan Mining (0.93Mt @ 3.6 g/t Au, 108,000 oz Au). In addition, the licence covers outcropping gold prospects including Skärfonäset, Storliden and Nymyran.
Surface and deep till testing of prospective magnetic horizons and further mapping of outcropping prospects is planned.
ORMBERGET PROJECT (12,610 Ha)
The Ormberget nr 1 claim covers 24km of prospective magnetic trend along the southern half of the “gold line” and is located 5km immediately along strike from Lappland Goldminers Fäbodliden prospect (25.6Mt @ 1.39gt Au, 1.1 Moz Au).
Follow-up of surface till geochemical anomalies and deep till drilling are recommended.
KÄRINGBERGET PROJECT (3,712 Ha)
The Käringberget nr 1 prospect hosts an undrilled 300m x 300m anomalous deep till gold anomaly with outcropping gold in metasediments averaging 0.2-0.5 g/t Au.
Drill testing of the anomalous area is recommended.
OTHER PROJECTS (7,350 Ha)
The Storbäcken nr 1 prospect is located in the eastern Skellefte field. A magnetic structural analysis shows similarities to the 1.1 Moz Bjorkdal gold mine with a dome cut by a NW structure. The permit area also includes the Stentjärn gold prospect.
The Bure nr 1 and Myrträsk nr 1 permits show similar structural settings to the main gold projects in the Skellefte field.
These projects lie under a thin veneer of glacial till cover and require initial surface till sampling and field reconnaissance.
